The National Biosafety Authority (NBA) is a state corporation mandated (under the Biosafety Act, 2009) to exercise general supervision and control over the transfer, handling and use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) with a view to ensure safety of human and animal health and provision of adequate protection of the environment.
The Authority has successfully migrated the following services to the E-citizen platform:
Application for contained use research involving GMOs;
Application for environmental and placing in the market of GMOs;
Application for import, export and transit of GMOs;
Application of No-objection letters;
Application for GMO-free certificates;
Application for registration of Institutional Biosafety Committees;
Application for renewing of Institutional Biosafety committees; and
Application for inspections and certification facilities dealing with GMOs.
It is notified for general information of the public that these services are now available on the E-citizen platform and payment will be made through the Paybill number 222222.
