In a bid to spread biosafety messages to ground level, National Biosafety Authority (NBA) planted 1, 500 trees at Nakeel Secondary School in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County. The exercise was carried out on April 6, 2013 in collaboration with Kenya Forest Service. We want to reach out to students and make them ambassadors of biosafety, the CEO, Dr Willy Tonui said.
The Authority recognizes and implements the County™s Vision 2030 blueprint to attain 10% forest cover; therefore it planted indigenous trees namely: casuarinas, nandi flames and Naivasha thorns. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Authority chose a public school with enough land to plant trees. The trees shall be maintained jointly for three years by the Authority and the School.
