Dr. Ann Karimi is a senior finance and investment professional with over fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in financial management, investment strategy, risk management, and corporate services within both the private and public sectors. She possesses extensive knowledge of Kenya’s and the East African region’s financial and investment landscape. Prior to her appointment as Acting Chief Executive Officer, she served as Director, Corporate Services at the National Biosafety Authority, where she provided strategic leadership and oversight in finance, human resource management, ICT, planning and strategy, and corporate communications. In this capacity, she ensured prudent resource management, strengthened institutional systems, enhanced operational efficiency, and supported the effective implementation of the Authority’s mandate.
Dr. Karimi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration (Finance) and is a Certified Investment and Financial Analyst, with additional qualifications in leadership, governance, and public sector management. She has demonstrated strong capacity in policy formulation, performance management, and institutional development, and has led key initiatives that have improved financial sustainability, service delivery, and organizational performance. As Acting Chief Executive Officer, she provides strategic direction and leadership aimed at strengthening biosafety regulation, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and ensuring effective and accountable delivery of the Authority’s mandate in line with national priorities.
